Research and Development

The main target of Barberet & Blanc R&D department is breeding new carnation varieties. Every year a very precise breeding and improvement program is set, based on market trends. Out of the 30.000 seedlings crossed and sown every year, only 250 are selected in order to have their agronomic characteristics determined. At this stage a number of quantitative and qualitative test are carried out over several years. Their ultimate air is to offer the grower only varieties of maximum quality.

Breeding and Improvement

New technologies are being used in our laboratory for virus detection. These technologies have showed great advantages conpared to traditional techniques.

With more than 50 years experience, we are sufficiently specialised to give our customers the best quality, both in the products themselves and in the technical assistance we give during the crop.

Our team of technicians, specialised in our whole product range, visit customers periodically throughout the year.

Barberet & Blanc has been present in the floriculture market, especially in the carnation business. Barberet & Blanc exports carnation cuttings to more than 60 countries. In each of these countries our qualified representatives are ready to attend to any needs our customers might have, whether they concern different varieties, crop growing or soil preparation.
